The Little Ship Club has been one of our clients for many years and we designed their membership management system in CiviCRM some 10 years ago.
But they are also very active bloggers, with lots of tales of the high seas combined with reports of club activities.
The Club apprached Xpdient to provide an editorial workflow so that content could go through an approval system before publication.
We’ve done this a few times and it’s no problem providing a simple apporval system.
But when we looked a bit more closely, we could see that there were two more problems with the content: it was not really “written for the web”, and it was not written with Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) in mind.
That’s not surprising as it just ordinary members who are writing the copy, but it is important to the Club that they can be found on the web.
Xpdient Director Tony Horrocks produced the country's first Web Writing Skills course nearly 20 years ago - so we put on two courses for web writing and SEO for Club members.
We also added in SEO features to the editorial system to ensure that approved copy contained correctly placed Googe keywords and was released on Twitter and Facebook for maximum distribution.
